Zanzibar has just surpassed its all-time annual tourism record, before the end of 2025. By October, Zanzibar recorded 743,605 international arrivals, exceeding last year’s full total of 736,755 and continuing a steady rise since 2020.
Growth has been driven by expanded tourism products (Sports, Luxury, Medical, and MICE), strong sustainability initiatives, airline route expansions and a series of recent international awards that have boosted global visibility. Monthly figures for 2025 also show consistent increases, with August reaching 105,506 visitors.
What stands out is that this progress came despite global travel pressures, reflecting the sector’s resilience and the impact of ongoing government reforms. A notable milestone and one that signals strong momentum heading into year-end.
